Beyond our work for companies and shops, THE LIGHT. keeps creating reasons for people to gather at the scale of a whole town — by shooting, designing, telling stories and brewing coffee. Here are some of the initiatives we've been part of.

PEOPLEまちの風景
When people gather,
a town lights up.
People talking over coffee, children busy with their hands, smiles running around. What we want to create are places where moments like these happen naturally.
Ikomina Kaihoku
Ikomina Open Zone (Gate)
2025.10 — Pedestrian deck by the station
A trial that opened public space by the station to the people of the town. On the pedestrian deck in front of the ticket gates we set up wooden benches, decks and pop-up stores, with a different coffee, pastry or handmade-goods stall each day and workshops. People stepped out of the station, stopped, sat down and started talking — a week when the town's front door came alive. THE LIGHT. took part in making the place as one of the town's team.
Sakurasaku
Sakurasaku — Challenge shop
2025.01– — An empty shopfront by the station
A time-limited, shared challenge shop in an empty storefront by the station. It began as a place where people who want to open a shop can try on a small scale, and it's still running. With every new shop that takes root — children's clothes, a florist — a few more people walk the streets by the station. THE LIGHT. is involved in this initiative that brings new movement to the station area.

Once a month — Ikoma Taisha shrine grounds
"Torii no Mukou COFFEE" — Beyond the Torii — is held once a month in the grounds of Ikoma Taisha. Surrounded by a grove of chinquapin trees, coffee in hand, you experience the shrine from a different angle. It's organised by people who love the area, and THE LIGHT. Coffee runs a stall. Pass under the torii, climb the stone steps, and have a cup near the worship hall — making a place people want to linger, so the shrine stays at the centre of the community.
Coffee × Town
Bringing people to town with coffee
THE LIGHT. COFFEE
Brewing the coffee we like is part of our job. On event days a queue forms for a cup, and strangers around the tables start talking. It's our own ongoing way of giving people in town a reason to meet — with coffee as the excuse.
